What in the World is #yegHelp?
Who is Jerry Aulenbach?
I'm just a small-town boy. Born and raised in Lunenburg Nova Scotia. I took the midnight train going to Alberta (to catch up with my high school sweetheart, whom I quickly married, and now have four children with). While earning my Bachelor in Education degree at University of Alberta, I decided to pick up a real estate licence. It turned out to be a great career choice, and once I had my BEd, I started selling full-time. It has turned out to be the perfect fit for me, as it allows me to spend lots of time meeting new people and helping them make some pretty big decisions, and eating some great food along the way.
What is the history of the #yegHelp fundraiser?
I learned of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation a few years ago while at a provincial sales rally. Their Executive Director at the time, Sandra Diaz (@HiSandraDiaz), spoke about the organization with such passion that I was immediately compelled to write down a fundraising goal for the Foundation ($3000), and I decided to achieve it at a tweetup. I followed the model of #twestivalYEG, which was simply to hold a soirée, charge a modest admission, have a silent auction and door prizes, take the money and run (with said money to the Shelter Foundation, of course). I also added a live twitter auction, in which you have to tweet your bid with a certain hashtag, which would be picked up by a special search and shown on the projector for al to see. Trust me, it can be very exciting!

How Much?
Funsies
To add a little spice, there will be a costume contest. More details to follow!
Why should YOU attend? There are 2 reasons to attend: one is selfish-it's going to be one heck of a lot of fun; the other is selfless-I want to raise a lot of money for a local women's shelter (La Salle) through the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, and I need your help. The goal is $5000.
How can you get involved and help this event be a huge success?
Step 1: come.
Step 2: bring friends. Tweetups are so casual that you don't need to worry if you don't know anyone. By the end of the night, you'll be surrounded by friends and tweeting them for the rest of your life!
Step 3: Dress up in a wicked awesome costume for great prizes.
Stay tuned for more info, particularly about the costume contests. You will definitely want to be a part of this night!
